Finished watching Please Teacher the other night. A little odd and derivative, but fun and worth a rental I guess. Felt like it should have been 26 episodes instead of 13. Marie's my favorite character, I think. Here she is, angry at a snail.
Working on Love Hina now, which gives me way fewer sexual deviancy heebie-jeebies than the manga.

Been on a movie kick.
I, Robot - Did a much better job than I expected. Good stuff.
13 Going on 30 - Big, with a girl and a happier ending.
The Chronicles of Riddick - Big cool things go kerblooie!
Hellboy - A whole lotta fun. Good characters, want a sequel.
Mean Girls - Pretty darn good, clever story, unusual ending.
Elf - Really really funny, might become a Christmas classic.
Up next: Morvern Callar and Human Traffic Remixed.
Also started a new BBC series, Brian Dooley's The Smoking Room. Clever show with a one room set.

Was doing some digging for an eBay sale, and I found the following review for the Def Jux Robots DVD:
(Four Stars) cornholey but not opressively so...,
Reviewer: A viewer (corn town USA)
This dvd was fresh while maintaining a snizzle of flinkteringness. i wouldn't call it overtly blanglerful, but i would advise taking it with a jug of turpentine.
Blanglerful?

Fullmetal Alchemist is like crack. No it's worse than crack. It's like crack with a storyline and a kick-ass theme song.
I actually considered cosplay for a minute. Somebody shoot me.
Someone should start Anime Anonymous, but the alcoholics took the damn initials.

Well, I'm out of Full Metal Alchemist episodes to watch, so I figured I'd watch FLCL (aka Fooly Cooly or Furi Kuri). I've only watched one episode, but I believe that it just might be the greatest anime I have ever seen that involves a guy taking repeated blows to the head. Click for the enlarging and whatnot.
Yes, she is licking a Louisville Slugger.
Coming up next episode! Cat! And much smaller fucked up looking Cat!

Going to see Hero this weekend? (Snob Alert) Been there, done that. Lovers is the movie to see. Here's a Wallpaper to put on your coffeehouse laptop so you can be all cool and ahead of the curve.
Other movies of note: God-Diva (Blade Runner meets King Tut)
Mach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lots of painful looking fighting mayhem, and website music that makes your booty wiggle.

Honesty, it took a while for it to sink in. When I heard about this film, my Pre-Spider-Man-X-Men movie instincts kicked in, and I filed it in the back of my head under "Gonna Be A Big Disappointment."
That was before I saw these pictures, and read this:
Directed By: Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller
Segment Director: Quentin Tarantino
Cast: Bruce Willis (Hartigan), Mickey Rourke (Marv), Clive Owen (Dwight), Elijah Wood (Kevin), Nick Stahl (Junior/Yellow Bastard), Carla Gugino (Lucille), Brittany Murphy (Shellie), Jaime King (Goldie/Wendy), Jessica Alba (Nancy), Josh Hartnett, Marley Shelton, Maria Bello (Ava Lord), Rosario Dawson (Gail), Benicio Del Toro (Jack), Devon Aoki (Miho), Alexis Bledel (Becky), Michael Clarke Duncan, Michael Madsen, Rick Gomez, Sherrell Murphy-Ramos, Scott Teeters, Arie Verveen, Tommy Nix, Makenzie Vega, Lauren-Elaine Edleson, Jason McDonald, and Jason Douglas.
I am taking the day off, and the next day off just to get drunk in celebration. I cannot explain how fucking exciting this is.
So far, the most info I found was here.

Be aware: ABC's new show Lost is a fatty trunkload of pimp. Watched the first episode on a lark (heard the effects were cool), and I not only got a hour of truly suspense-filled TV, but a hell of an unexpected surprise as well (But only if you're old enough to know who Sid and Marty Krofft are.). I could be wrong about the surprise part, but if I'm not, this could be an amazingly cool series.

I know it's five years away, but no more Leno is something deserving one of those online countdown timers or something. 2009 will mark the beginning of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. Awesome. More at Reuters
Sorry, but I never enjoyed Leno. I think Conan is much more in the mindset that will fit the show that Johnny Carson made great.

Just watched the second episode of Lost. This show is great. Really really great. Problem is, you miss an episode, and you're pretty much behind the curve. Luckily, Episodes 1 and 2 are going to air again this Saturday night at seven (central time).
Watch these shows. Tivo them, tape them, download them, whatever. You will not be disappointed.

Looking something like Amélie gone slutty, Alizée isn't really that good a singer, and her lyrics suck. Still, she's sold over 4 million albums.
Or download the same reason here. The guys will probably want to go with this option.

I dug the hell out of the trailer for this, but I never went to see it in the theatre because of all the really bad reviews. Watched it today, and thought it was a lot of fun. Don't see where all the hate came from. It's not gonna win any oscars or anything, but I'm glad I saw it.

The Virgin Suicides
Solid work from Sofia Coppola, but it's no Lost in Translation. Wish I had seen it first.
Igby Goes Down
Some great writing, some great scenes, and some great acting, but I find it really hard to empathize with "rich kid having a hard time" movies.
Honey
Kind of a bad movie, but the dancing was fun to watch. Jessica Alba is fun to watch. Hopefully her work from this will enhance Sin City.

I started watching Huff for three reasons: Hank Azaria, Oliver Platt, and the hope of seeing Paget Brewster naked. What I got is one of the best shows on television, and yet another nail in the coffin of FCC controlled broadcast TV. And Paget Brewster naked (whee!).
Aside from the fact that every person on this show gives a near perfect performance, the most startling thing about it is the brutal honesty. Every situation is carried out with the character's most personal moments put on display not just for others to see, but for others to empathize with. The amazing thing is that the smaller the moment is, the more powerfully it comes across. Truly great TV.
The first season is nearly over, so I would suggest snagging the DVDs when they come out.
Mmm. Paget Brewster. I should note that aside from Andy Richter Controls the Universe, she's really done a lot of crap. Hotness aside, I'm really glad to see her in something good.

Well, I watched every episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. All seven seasons. In about a month. Like crack it is.
The two most notable things I learned from watching TNG: The quality of episodes ranged from really really great to utter crap, and Wesley Crusher hooked up with Ashley Judd.
Quoting the FAQ from WilWheaton.net:
Is it true that you were really Ashley Judd's first onscreen kiss, and you ruined her for the rest of her life?
Yep. It is 100% true. Ashley Judd played Robin Lefler, in the episode "The Game", and Uncle Willie went to bootytown.
Eek.

OK, here's the deal. If you haven't seen Saw, but you plan on seeing it eventually, go rent/buy it now, tonight, this minute. There's little I hate more than people who ruin movies for you, and this one can be ruined with about five words. Trust me. It's not the greatest movie ever, but I liked it, and you'll hate the person that no doubt will screw it up. That's all I'm going to say.
If you don't want to see it, never mind.

So, I finally finished trudging through the seven seasons of Star Trek: Voyager. What the hell. Seriously, what the hell.
Not a good way to follow up Deep Space Nine, and probably the worst series ending ever. Still, there were several episodes that I thought were really good, and several that had me laughing out loud. So there.
Top six things I learned from my Voyager experience:
1. Anything can be fixed with nanoprobes.
2. Taking a Borg to a bar makes for a cheap date.
3. You can't not watch a Borg and an E.M.H. sing "You Are My Sunshine."
4. Neelix likes it Klingon style.
5. Never drink meat nectar.
6. Korean men never get laid in the Delta Quadrant.

Just started watching season one. What the hell is up with that theme song? I honestly thought that they pulled a b-side form some shitty 80's hair metal band and just slapped it on there. At least 4000 other people agree with me. Anyway, I'm going to go through the first season, but if I'm not really into it by then, I'm gonna dump Trek altogether for a while. Pretty sure nothing's gonna beat DS9.
I've been meaning to watch all the Joss Whedon stuff anyway.

So, I finished Enterprise.
Top eight (nine) things I learned from my Enterprise experience:
1. Jolene Blalock is so hot, that Vulcan hair has no negative effect.
2. Dr. Phlox is a big pimp.
3. In the future, all humans have sex fully clothed.
4. Scott Bakula is prone to overacting. A lot.
5. I never know decontamination could be so sexy.
6. It wasn't quite as bad as people said.
7. Except for the crappy ending (memories of Voyager...)
8. ...and the worst theme song in the history of Star Trek.
update:
9. Cmdr. Charles "Trip" Tucker III kicks ass.

Just finished watching Into The Blue. The movie needs to be called Some Stuff That Happens In Between The 45 Times You Get To Look At Jessica Alba's Wet Butt. Seriously. I wasn't even watching it for the Alba Butt. By the halfway point, I was marking its appearance like chapter breaks. I'm actually wondering why they didn't do that on the DVD. Chapter 1 - Alba's butt, the 1st appearance. Chapter 2 - Return of the Butt. Chapter 3 - Butt Takes a Holiday.

Surfing about, I came upon Channel 4's new FourDocs page. Simply put, you can watch (or upload your own) documentaries, four minutes in length. Neat stuff.
While I was there, I found their Videos page. Lots and lots of fun stuff to watch, including the somewhat kick ass Gorillaz video for Dirty Harry (wmv), and High (also wmv), by the really really intense (read: awesome) James Blunt.
Now go waste your afternoon watching streaming video.

If you didn't know already, I work for PBS.
I just finished watching Reading Rainbow. Usually, I'm a little busy, and the shows are just background noise. But this one was too beautifully dated to pass by. There was really bad CG. There were videos by Lionel Ritchie, Tears for Fears, Sting, and freakin' El DeBarge ('Who's Johnny,' remember?). Run-DMC and Pete Seeger guest starred. Where the hell else would you find those two together? That's right, nowhere. 'Cause Reading Rainbow is the shizzle.
I mean, Jam Master Jay scratched a book.

As stated on The Mushroom Kindom (website):
The "Mario & Zelda Big Band Live" concert was held on September 14th, 2003, at the Nihon Seinenkan Hall in Tokyo, Japan. The DVD recording of this event was bundled with the Japanese gaming magazine "Nintendo Dream" vol. 101.
Mario & Zelda Big Band Live was, as the name suggests, live performances of Mario and Zelda music arranged into jazz, Latin, country, and bluegrass. The host, Ashura Benimaru Itoh, started off the concert with an awesome guitar arrangement of the Super Mario Bros. "main theme" and "underworld theme." The performances that followed were divided almost evenly between the Tokyo CubaBoys Jr. (The Big Band of Rogues) and Mr. Yoshihiro Arita (with his band).
Not included is "Mario Scat Version" (Super Mario Sunshine bonus level theme), which finally surfaces as track 4 on the M&ZBBL CD.
After every performance or two, the host talked to the guests a little bit, presumably about the music they just heard and the game it was from.

I just realized that MTV is 25 years old this month. Anyone else find it funny that MTV is now too old to be on any of its reality shows?

1000 Simultaneous replays of one track in Trackmania. Unbelievable.
P.S. - Some people have trouble with the GameTrailers.com player. Here's a lower quality version on YouTube, if you need it.

If you don't know who Scooter is, it's OK. You're not missing much. Just watch this until you get about a minute in, as it starts a litttle slow. Very mildly NSFW.

The video won't stay on YouTube long enough to link it, but I finally found it on GorillaMask (NOTE: Site is Not Safe For Work. The page I'm linking to currently has no boobs or anything on it, but it's no guarantee.). You can also Right Click Here to download the video directly (and avoid accidental boobs).

Blinkx embeddable video walls. Keen.
Addendum: You can do them based on search results. This one's for "Scarlett Johansson," with safe search on. :(

Nope, not Grand Theft Auto. Not Doom. Not Quake or Bully or Dead Rising.
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. Not for the faint of heart.

I would have loved this more if it was all right angles. Tron and curves don't mix.
On a side note, kudos to ifilm for one-upping the YouTube player. That menu button is slick.

This is really amazing. Three guys at Carnegie Mellon developed software that can take a 2D image and automatically extrapolate the 3D elements from it. Very cool.
Give it about a year, and you'll see this in home use. Two I can think of right off the bat:
1. Scan your home photo collection in, and display your memories in 3D. If it's the same room, have the people in the room fade from shot to shot while the room stays the same.
2. Gamers can photograph their real life surroundings and have the software stitch and render the photos into FPS maps. You could do whole apartment complexes/universities/etc. in no time.
Ooo! I thought of another one. You could integrate photos into Google Earth, and import old photos of buildings with the date in case they ever incorporate a "time travel" setting. Keen.
Gotta love technology.

I was looking for a hi-res copy of The 1K Project when I came across Zudeo. It seems to be an offshoot of Azureus. If you're a video whore like myself, preferring to find higher-than-youtube-quality videos and keeping them, you must check this out. It's potentially awesome.
Note: I haven't tried the Zudeo client. I just clicked the videos, and Azureus opens them up like a regular Torrent. Only way faster.

Not real, from a TV show. I'm not into human suffering.
I would have embedded the player, but it's got one of those "no embed" things on it. Boooooo.

I thought it would be a neat idea to have little video "Bonus Features" to go with entries, with the same general theme of the post. Let me know if you know of a way to improve it.
By the way, the theme of this post is greased up Japanese guy wearing horns.

God. If it wouldn't have been a logistical nightmare for the advertising, they so would've called this movie Fast Tits.

America at a Crossroads is airing April 15th-20th on most PBS stations. It looks incredible. I can't wait.
You know, I don't make a lot of money working for PBS, but showing stuff like this makes it worth it.

Just kidding, but it is a guy in a Speedo, so if you're a homophobe, you can pass. Also, if you're at work, and you don't want homophobes at work to start a rumor that you're gay, you can also pass.
Actually, aside from the fact that Japanese humor is so hard for me to fathom that this is rendered funny, I'm posting it for another reason. I actually watch so much TV from so many countries that I saw the judge at the end and thought "Is that Joe from Adam and Joe Go Tokyo?" This essentially means that I want to know if someone from a British show I watched that never aired in the US that was about Japanese culture quirks was now on a YouTube video of a Japanese (Game? Variety? Speedo?) show as a judge, or if it was just someone else that looks like him.
I watch too much TV. Thanks internet.
